The SCA performs the synchronous equipment management function
(SEMF) and message communication function (MCF), and processes
protocol packets.

DCC communication
Processes a maximum of 160 DCCs (D1-D3). In this manner, the link
is provided for transmitting the NM information.
Clock function
Provides the real-time clock (RTC).
Supports high-precision clock synchronization and complies with
IEEE 1588v2. Time information is received at interface CLK/TOD on a
PSXCS board.
Alarms and maintenance features
Supports service performance monitoring and collects information
about performance events and alarms.
Provides alarm input/output interfaces with eight inputs and two
outputs.
Provides one two-output alarm cascading interface.
Controls two outputs of cabinet indicator signals.
Controls the fan speed and provides the alarm management function
for intelligent fans.
Detects whether a packet data board is in position.
Power supply management
Monitors the -48 V/-60 V power supply.
Detects whether the PIU is in position and checks whether the
lightning protection module of the PIU fails.
Protection schemes
Provides 1+1 Hot Backup for the SCA Unit. When the active board is
faulty, services are switched to the standby board automatically.
